The department is situated in the new block first floor, parallel to the main building of the college and adjacent to the open auditorium.
The department has dedicated rooms for its three batches and the staff room. All the classes are well appointed with sufficient cross ventilation; seating arrangement, fans and proper lighting. The department also has appropriate furniture for the staff in the staff room, with individual tables and chairs for everyone. Teachers are provided with drawers to keep their personal and official materials.
The department presently has a good mix of experienced senior faculty members to lead and guide the department along with youthful faculty members, willing to shoulder additional responsibilities. The first batch has now passed out in the year 2021 with respectable pass standards (Details of semester wise results is provided in the brief history of the department).
The department runs the course programme in a planned manner. Portions are covered systematically and weak students are provided remedial classes. Apart from this, intensive revision classes are provided to all students, two weeks before the commencement of all university exams.
The department students and teachers share an excellent bonding and relationship, which has translated to the students actively participating in all department and college activities. The department students are in the forefront of all College Club/Cell and NSS activities.
The students mostly comprise of youngsters from economically backward communities. Many of them, who are first generation literates from their families work part-time to find ways and means to support their parents and fund their education. However, their enthusiasm and keenness to improve their economic and social stature is an eye opener. The willingness to learn and overcome social and economic barriers, fuel these youngsters and they in turn motivate the teachers to excel in their profession. This definitely promotes a spirit of camaraderie and fellowship amongst the students and the department fraternity.
All though new to the College, let me place it on record the fact that working along with my colleagues and students has given me a deep sense of satisfaction and accomplishment.
